Catherine “Bettie” E. Bintrim, 93

Mrs. Catherine “Bettie” E. Bintrim, 93, of Ellwood City passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2017 in the Friendship Ridge, Brighton Rehabilitation and Wellness Center.

Mrs. Bintrim was born on January 13, 1924 in Pittsburgh to the late Morgan and Martha Dwyer McMahon.  Bettie  graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1942. She had worked at the U.S. Steel Tube Mill in Ellwood City in the payroll department, Armstrong Cork in Beaver Falls in the payroll department, and for the Ellwood City Area School District in the clerical department and later in the tax office. She is a member of the Holy Redeemer Parish and the Holy Redeemer Christian Mothers of which she had served as president. She also is a member and past president of the Municipal Women’s Club. For many years she volunteered with the American Cancer Society and the Meals on Wheels program. She enjoyed flower gardening, walking in Ewing Park, and reading.

She is survived by her sons, Mark (Jeanne) Bintrim of Harrisonburg, VA and Matthew (Denise) Bintrim of Ellwood City, her grandchildren,  Dr. Daniel Bintrim, Rebecca Bintrim, Jordan Bintrim, and Justin Yanssens, her great-grandchild, Rocco Yanssens, and her brother-in-law, Ray (Doris) Bintrim of New Freedom, Pa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl “Turk” G. Bintrim whom she married on May 19, 1951 and passed away on June 25, 1992, and her sister, Dorthea Wilson.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6-8 pm in the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremation Services.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 am in the Holy Redeemer Church with Father Zachary Galiyas officiating. Entombment will follow at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Resurrection Mausoleum. Members of the Holy Redeemer Christian Mothers are asked to meet at the church on Wednesday by 9:50 am to form an honor guard. Those attending the funeral mass are asked to meet at the funeral home on Wednesday by 9:20 am.
