Domenico A. Mundo, 79

Mr. Domenico A. Mundo, 79, of Ellwood City passed away at the Haven in New Castle, Sunday, December 19th, 2021, following a courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma.

Married to Janice Alfonso on November 30th, 1968, he is the son of the late Marie Adams Mundo and Domenico Mundo. After graduating from Lincoln High School in 1960, he was a freelance photographer for the Ellwood City Ledger & the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He also worked as a photographer for Aetna Standard Engineering in Ellwood City & Dravo Corporation on Neville Island. Later, he worked for Babcock & Wilcox and Mathews Conveyor Company. Most recently, he was a self employed Master Electrician and was Catholic by faith. In the old days he enjoyed his golf league buddies at Stone Crest and Del Mar Golf Courses, and at times, winning a trophy or two. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, & the great outdoors. He taught his children and grandchildren to appreciate all nature and always had something to teach them about anything and everything. He took everyone who came to visit from out of town to McConnell’s Mill State Park to share its experience and beauty. He was a friend to all that needed him, a great pie baker, and his favorite food was “a really good” pizza.

Her is survived by his wife Janice Alfonso Mundo, his children, Monica A. Latham of College Station, TX, son, Nicolas D. Mundo of Ellwood City, grandchildren, William Alfonso Latham and Elizabeth Antionette Latham both of College Station , TX, sisters, Donna C. Donati of New Castle, Francis Woods of California, and Catherine (Robert) Pavcovich of South Carolina, and brother, James D. (April) Mundo of Nevada.

The family would like to thank Mark and the entire staff at the Haven for their constant compassionate care.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 pm until the time of the Blessing Service at 6:00 pm at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory Inc..  The family requests those attending the visitation and service to please wear a mask due to COVID-19 concerns. Interment will be at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery.

    Janice, we are so sorry to hear about Dom’s passing….we always enjoyed talking to him. It has been so long since we saw him, He would always like to joke around with us!

    God bless the family. I met him a few years ago when he attended his grandson’s piano lesson I was teaching. He was so interested in William.

    Aunt Jan, Monica and Nicholas, we are so deeply sorry for the loss of Uncle Dom. He was funny, sassy, loving and kind hearted. Rest in sweet peace uncle Dom until we see you again.
