John A. “Jam” Mohr, 74

John A. “Jam” Mohr, 74, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026, after a courageous battle with lung disease.

Born on July 23, 1951, in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, John was the son of the late Geraldine Maggi Mohr and John R. Mohr.

John was the devoted husband and best friend of Deborah Lee (Fusco) Mohr, with whom he shared 47 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life.   Together they built a loving family that was the center of his world. He is survived by his beloved children, Stephanie N. (Mohr) Kelosky and Brian M. (Lindsay) Mohr. Nothing brought John greater joy than being “Papa” to his five cherished grandchildren: Gabriel F. Kelosky, Alexander D. Kelosky, Elise H. Kelosky, Carson A. Mohr, and Mia A. Mohr. They gave his life a whole new meaning, and he treasured every moment spent with them.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his father- and mother-in-law, Frank and Frances Fusco.

John graduated from Ellwood City High School in 1969 and dedicated 30 years of service to Hussey Copper before retiring in 2010.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, John had a passion for baseball and was a devoted fan of Pittsburgh’s Black and Gold teams, especially the Pirates. He generously gave his time coaching youth baseball, softball, and football, sharing his love of sports with countless young athletes. He also coached men’s softball for many years, leaving a lasting impact on those who played alongside him.

Music was another of John’s great passions. In his younger years, he was an accomplished trombone player and proudly performed with The Contempos throughout the 1960s and 1970s. He was also an active member of the Ellwood City Jaycees, where he enjoyed serving his community.  And proudly served as President and treasurer of his Union for decades.

Later in life, John strengthened his relationship with God and was a faithful member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church.

John’s warm smile, contagious laugh, generous spirit, and enormous heart touched the lives of everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered by his family, friends, and all whose lives he made brighter.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 2nd, 2026 from 1-3 and 5-8 pm at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 309 Spring Ave., Ellwood City, Pa 16117. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday at Our Lady of the Valley Parish, Holy Family Church at 10:30 am. Entombment will follow at the Beaver Falls Cemetery Mausoleum.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

John was one of the many friends who welcomed our family into the North Sewickley area when we moved there from Kansas. We will always remember his infectious laugh. May the Lord pour out his grave and to the Mohr family during this time.

Getting old is not the easiest thing that I have to contend with. Memory loss is just about the worst. I live in Georgia and have not had any contact with my relatives for a long time, but I believe John was a relative of mine. Today is my 83rd birthday. I am so sorry that I have not maintained contact with my relative family in PA. Please extend my condolences to the family.
