Lucy A. Severson, 68

Lucy A. Severson, 68 formerly of Ellwood City, presently Grove City, passed away on Sunday January 3, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Hospice House in Wexford.

Lucy was born on September 27, 1952 in East Liverpool, Ohio to the late James F. and Carmen Fay (Bellomy) Balser. She had graduated from Western Beaver High School with the class of 1970, and studied computer technology in Pittsburgh. For 25 years she worked at Leeds and Northrup in Ellwood City as a machine operator. She also served as Union President and Representative several times while at L&N. Lucy enjoyed reading, playing scrabble, and in her younger years sewing.

She is survived by her brother, Jerry (Kathy) Balser of Ellwood City, her sister, Joy Hope and her partner Dan Beppu of Oregon, her special friend, Karen Wallace of Grove City, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Shelia Opsal, and her brother, Sharrel Balser.

As per Lucy’s wishes there will not be a public service. The final arrangements are entrusted to the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory Inc..

Memorial contributions in Lucy’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Lawrence County Humane Society.

    While I was not a friend of Lucy’s, I am a family member of Karen Wallace. I know they shared a wonderful friendship and how much she will be missed by her family and friends. May God Rest Her Soul. She fought a valiant fight against a deadly adversary.
