Mr. David James Mastropietro, 78, of Wayne Twp. passed away on Monday, January 16th, 2023 at the Good Samaritan Hospice at Heritage Valley Medical Center.
Mr. Mastropietro was born in New Castle on May 29th, 1944 to the late James Joseph and Helen (Valentine) Mastropietro. David graduated from Mohawk High School with the class of 1962 where he was a record setting track star and Slippery Rock University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in 1966. In 1969 he earned his Masters Degree in Guidance and Counseling from Westminster College and later his Masters Plus in Program Supervision. For 35 years Dave worked at the Midwestern Intermediate Unit #4 in Grove City as the Program Supervisor. He is a member of the Divine Grace Parish, Holy Redeemer Church. Dave enjoyed fly fishing, athletic activities including walking, biking, swimming, skiing, ice skating, tennis, studying martial arts especially Karate of which he earned a 6th Degree Black Belt, and playing the accordion.
Dave is survived by his wife Barb (Reino) Mastropietro whom he married on July 2nd, 1966 at the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, sons Jason David (Susan Marie) Mastropietro of Clearwater, Florida and Dana David (Michelle) Mastropietro of Pittsburgh, grandchildren Gianna Corleta Mastropietro and Jalena Venicia Mastropietro, sisters Susan Williamson of Canfield, Ohio and Janice (Hershel) Ritchey of Irwin, and brother Robert (Oksana) Mastropietro of Ringoes, New Jersey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Mason Mastropietro, and brother-in-law Robert Williamson.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory Inc.. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday at 10:00 am at the Divine Grace Parish, Holy Redeemer Church with Father Mark Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in David’s name may be made to the Holy Redeemer Angel Fund.
