Sally J. Streit, 79

Mrs. Sally J. Streit, 79, of North Sewickley Twp. passed away peacefully on Friday, March 8, 2019 at her residence with her loving family at her bedside.

Mrs. Streit was born on February 6, 1940 in Rimersburg, Pa to the late John C. and Effie Mae (Hollobaugh) Stanford.  Before becoming a house wife, Sally had worked at the J.C. Murphy Co. in Ellwood City for 2 years as a clerk in the dish department. She is a member of the Holy Redeemer Parish and the Holy Redeemer Christian Mothers. Sally was a long time volunteer at the Holy Redeemer Parish Bazaar where she worked in the outside kitchen cooking fish and peperoni puffs. She was also a member of the Golden Agers, and served as a campground host at the Tionesta Lake Army Corp. of Engineers Outflow Area Campground and at the Chapman State Park.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph E. Streit, Jr. whom she married on June 28, 1958, her daughter, Jodi Lynn Powell of Ellwood City, her son, Mark (Paula) Streit of Ellwood City, her two grandchildren, and her twelve great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Hazel Weatherly of Beaver Falls.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, John “Jack” Stanford and Larry Stanford, her sister, Shirley Slaugenhaupt, four infant siblings, and her brothers-in-law, Joseph Weatherly and Eugene Slaugenhaupt.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremation Services. A  mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 am at the Holy Redeemer Church with Father Mark Thomas officiating. Entombment will follow at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Resurrection Mausoleum.  Members of the Holy Redeemer Christian Mothers are asked to meet at the church on Wednesday by 9:50 am to form an honor guard.
